Throughout the spring and summer of 2011, James Kinkaid, Kevin McCraney and I played together in a band called Hot Air Ballooning. At the end of the summer we recorded all of our material in our homes and apartments. We sat on the recordings for a while (way too long!), but now they’re out and you can download them at http://hotairballooning.bandcamp.com/.
To everyone who came out to our shows, tolerated the trying sounds of rehearsal, or contributed to the project in any way: thank you!
when a song or recording doesn’t work out:
scrap it and use the parts for remix material.
It’s finished.
We’ll be with you soon.
I just finished making some big revisions to one of the coolest songs on the album. Six down, two to go.
I’ll be submitting a song to a local compilation CD this month, and another to a university sponsored songwriting competition. Crossing my fingers!
More pics! Gabagalooba.
Photos from Gaba Goo session.
Some new sounds from Andy Fernandez, Dan Fernandez, and Dan Giglio.
It’s the season for giving! Here’s a sample track called “The Current Sea” from my forthcoming album (co-produced by Kevin McCraney).
Merry Christmas!
There’s always a neighbor or roommate that gets to hear every song dozens (…hundreds?) of times. They hear things develop from obnoxious-crying-baby melodies to at-least-you-know-your-mother-will-say-it-sounds-good symphonic masterpieces. Here’s to the roommates.
An instrumental version of “Letters”. It still needs some work but I think things are coming together. I’m told there’s to be some kind of horn recording over the holiday. The words/vocals are finished but they’re too sloppy to show you right now. More soon.
By order of Kevin McCraney, I declare this to be a blog.
